Caslano Blues has a long and well-established history, accompanied over the years by a constant evolution of its offerings in both quality and quantity, making it one of the most popular and anticipated musical events not only in the region but also in the canton.

An event that traditionally inaugurates the Ticino summer of festivals of various genres and scale, it is strongly supported by Pro Caslano with the support of the Municipality, and has been fully supported from the beginning by the Lugano Region, the Lugano tourist board, thanks to which the festival has always been and remains free to the public.

So, the beginnings. In 2012, the Lugano Region proposed the idea to Pro Caslano and its president, Amos Sassi, who welcomed it with great enthusiasm. Thus, the project was born, taking shape in 2013 in close collaboration with musician Max Dega and journalist Piergiorgio Giambonini, a "tandem" well-established by numerous concerts and small blues festivals organized and managed in the Lugano area since the early 2000s.

Reto Vital,  "emissary" of the Lugano Region, immediately completed the Caslano Blues technical team, which now also includes Amos Sassi. This team is still responsible for organizing a festival managed and coordinated by Pro Caslano (chaired by Matteo Casciotta since 2024) with its new staff and collaborators, with the support of loyal sponsors and supporters.

To an immediately large and enthusiastic audience, that inaugural edition, dated June 21 and 22, 2013, unfolded over just two evenings and a single stage, featuring a total of six bands, mostly local.

From then on, it was all a crescendo: in 2014, Caslano Blues also landed in the village's splendid courtyards (initially only on Thursday evenings, but from the following year on Wednesdays: from the initial five courtyards, they expanded to seven, before settling at six). In 2015, a second stage was set up in the Piazza Lago refreshment area (intended for aperitif time and night owls), and the Sunday jam session at noon was inaugurated. Starting in 2023, the program was rounded out with Blues Cruises departing from Lugano and offering musical sightseeing tours in the area.

Shut down by the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, Caslano Blues celebrated its tenth edition in 2024. With over twenty-five free concerts featuring twenty bands from across Europe and the United States, it's now a well-established event eagerly awaited by fans, and not just by itself: the Malcantone festival is truly one-of-a-kind, taking place across the courtyards and lakeside of a charming village with a particularly festive spirit.
